FFL Transfer FAQ
Can I transfer a firearm with Catalina Gun Works?
Yes, we can handle any standard transfer in or out as well as any type of NFA firearms as well so long as it is destined for another FFL.
How do I transfer a firearm to you or through you?
We will require that you provide the name & email of the FFL dealer of your choice in the destination / receiving location. It is required that they send us a copy of their FFL paperwork. You will need to provide us a bill of sale with the details of the buyer/recipient as well
Can I send a firearm directly to a buyer that I've sold in a private sale?
In short, NO. Federal law does allow an individual to ship a private sale across state lines directly to an FFL for receiver pickup. However due to the current political climate this is a gray area that Federal Regulators can see as an opportunity to dispose of a “hot firearm”, thus creating a potential for liability at several levels. We strongly advise any firearms shipped are moved via FFL-to-FFL to help avoid this potential occurring.
How do I ship firearms for FFL shipping if I have to do it privately?
Almost every shipping company in the United States (IE: UPS, FedEx, USPS) requires that the firearm be declared during the out-shipping process by an FFL or Individual. Failure to do so can be grounds for Federal Charges. Don’t risk it, let us help you stay out of trouble. While there is a single exception to this that is covered by law we advise against it due to concerns by most shipping agencies.
Do you insure your FFL shipping?
While we normally don’t insure common transfers we do make exceptions for firearms and related items over $1000. This is most commonly such items as antique firearms and certain brands of optics and custom stock work. However, if you would like us to insure the item being shipped we will gladly accommodate the request, the additional fees will be added to the overall cost during billing.
Do you do international shipping?
We will do international shipping but this is strictly on a case-by-case basis. Due to ITAR regulations certain criteria must be met and approved by the State Department and Customs prior to shipping. Please contact us via email or phone to get more information.
